Mayeli Flores and Mariana “Barbie” Juarez engaged in a much-awaited boxing match on June 10, 2023, at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California. Flores emerged victorious with a unanimous decision over Juarez, who was previously a two-division champion.
Although Flores was six inches shorter than Juarez, she demonstrated her tenacity and unyielding offense by dominating Juarez throughout the bout. The judges scored the contest 80-72, 79-73, and 79-73 in favor of Flores.
Flores started off strong, breaking through Juarez’s guard and delivering powerful punches, leaving her opponent overwhelmed with her unrelenting attack. By the fifth round, Juarez was bleeding from the mouth, a clear indication of Flores’ dominance throughout the fight.
This win only added to Flores’ impressive record, as her only career loss was against WBC bantamweight champion Yuliahn Luna Avila in 2022. Conversely, Juarez experienced her fourth loss in the last five fights.
