Alexis Rocha Delivers A KO To Ashie In Seventh Round

On Saturday 28th January 2023, YouTube Theater in Inglewood saw a much-anticipated boxing match between Alexis Rocha and George Ashie. After seven rounds of intense fighting, it was Rocha who emerged victorious with a knockout in the seventh round.

Rocha had the upper hand throughout the fight, showcasing an impressive display of agility and power that left his opponent struggling to keep up. In spite of Ashie’s valiant efforts to stay competitive throughout the bout, he eventually succumbed to Rocha’s sheer strength as his challenger delivered an impressive right hook which ultimately led to his victory.

George Ashie of Ghana made headlines recently when he stepped in to fight Alexis Rocha on very short notice. Rocha was originally set to face Anthony Juice Young, but Young was injured and unable to compete. As a result, Ashie moved up from his home weight class of 140 pounds to take the bout at welterweight on short notice.

In the first two rounds, Ashie was clearly the busier fighter, having thrown more punches than his opponent and being more active in close quarters along the ropes.

Following Spence’s announcement that he will defend his WBA, WBC and IBF titles against welterweight champion Thurman (30-1, 22KOs) in 2023, the boxing world has taken note. Alexis Rocha (17-0, 13KOs) is now ranked number three in the same welterweight rankings; one spot below Thurman.
