Ohara Davies stuns Lewis Ritson, Wins WBA Eliminator fight

Ohara Davies produced an impressive performance to stop Lewis Ritson in the ninth round of their WBA super lightweight title eliminator. The Londoner used a savage left hook to the body to break down Ritson before finishing him off in the ninth round, booking a long-awaited world title shot.

Davies had boxed brilliantly across the preceding rounds, landing countless heavy shots to both head and body without ever really sustaining any damage himself. With this victory, Davies has set up a shot at the WBA super-lightweight title and will face the current champion, Alberto Puello.

Davies, who now has a record of 25-2 (18), was only beaten by Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall in his previous fights. He is now on a seven-fight winning streak and has earned a shot at the WBA super-lightweight title, which will be a huge opportunity for him to become a world champion.

Ritson, on the other hand, suffered his third defeat in his professional boxing career and has lost two of his last eights fights. However, he came into the fight on a good moment, with two consecutive victories, and had won six of his last seven fights.

The fight took place on March 5, 2023, at the Newcastle Arena, in Newcastle, England. Overall, Davies put on a great performance and will now look to become a world champion by defeating Alberto Puello in his next fight.
