In a middleweight bout held on June 10, 2023, at Ontario’s Toyota Arena, Shane Mosley Jr. from Pomona, CA, secured a remarkable win against D’Mitrius Ballard. Mosley Jr. ruled the game and ultimately defeated Ballard in the seventh round.
Mosley Jr. secured his third consecutive win and the NABO middleweight belt with a TKO victory in the seventh round. He had knocked Ballard down in the fifth round, and the referee stepped in after Mosley Jr. unleashed a series of punches. This win improved Mosley Jr.’s professional record to 20-4.
Meanwhile, Ballard experienced his second back-to-back loss, bringing his record to 21-2-1. Mosley Jr. was pleased with the match, emphasizing his ability to dictate the tempo and strategic placement in the ring. Additionally, he conveyed his aspiration to attain the title of WBA world champion.
Mosley Jr. said, “The plan was to take control of the fight from the first round, I was a control freak in there, control the pace even when he was walking me back it was because I wanted him to walk me back. I put him where I wanted him to be. And you saw when I turned it up, it was too much for him.
“So I did what I needed to do, we got the knockout. This guy is 21-1 the only person to beat him was the main event, Jaime Munguía. This means I’m on the road to getting that strap, that belt, it’s strap season. I’m going to be the WBA world champion.”
