The upcoming BLK Prime Pay-Per-View extravaganza has found a new opponent for former four-division titlist Adrien Broner. He will now face Michael Williams Jr. on February 25th at Gateway Park Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. This marks the third opponent for Broner in just over a week, as the main event has been plagued with changes.
Previous replacement, Philadelphia’s Hank Lundy, was removed from the mix after being suspended by the California State Athletic Commission. Williams, a 6’1″ fringe welterweight contender from Fayetteville, North Carolina, steps in as the new opponent. He is coming off a third-round knockout of Julio Buitrago last April 23 in Gadsden, Alabama.
Broner, from Cincinnati, last fought in February 2021 and claimed a twelve-round, unanimous decision win over Jovanie Santiago. He has been inactive since then, but this upcoming bout marks the first of a three-fight deal between him and BLK Prime, which was announced last October.
This fight has been in the works for a while, but various setbacks and changes have delayed its realization. Now, the show must go on and Broner will finally get a chance to showcase his skills in the ring against Williams. The BLK Prime team has secured a new opponent for their latest signing, and fans can expect an exciting night of boxing.
