Josh Taylor’s Request Granted: Balanced Judging Panel Includes British Judge

Josh Taylor, who currently holds the WBO Welterweight Championship and Ring Title, has secured a fair judging panel for his upcoming bout with Teofimo Lopez, as per his team’s request. The much-awaited fight is set to happen on June 10, 2023, at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden (MSG). Fans can catch the event on ESPN or stream it via the ESPN App.

Three judges, Steve Grey from England, Joe Pasquale from New Jersey, and Benoit Roussel from Quebec, have been accepted by the New York State Athletic Commission to officiate the 12-round Josh Taylor vs Teo Lopez fight.

Josh Taylor told Boxing Scene, “They tried to job me in the Ramirez fight, they scored it 114-112, all three judges, and I don’t think the fight was even close. I think Ramirez maybe won four rounds, if you’re lucky, and they gave him 114-112, with two knockdowns as well. So, take from that what you will, but I got the decision at the end of the day. Hopefully the judges will favor good, clean boxing and score it properly

The Tartan Tornado, Josh Taylor, hailing from Scotland, is a southpaw who has yet to taste defeat. He previously held the unified WBA (super), WBC, and IBF titles. With an additional year of professional boxing experience and a longer reach than Lopez, Taylor is feeling confident going into the upcoming bout.

Teofimo Lopez made a name for himself in boxing by defeating Vasily Lomachenko, who had not lost a match in over six years. However, the lead-up to the fight was marked by contentious language and controversy. Lopez’s threats, including a statement that he intended to “kill” Taylor, resulted in heightened measures for the pre-fight press conference. Despite the heated exchanges, both fighters are determined to demonstrate their abilities in the ring.

The upcoming Taylor vs. Lopez fight’s undercard features several noteworthy matches, including a Junior Middleweight Showdown between Xander Zayas and Ronald Cruz, as well as Henry Lebron vs. Carlos Ramos, Robson Concei o vs. Nicolas Polanco, and Jamain Ortiz vs. Humberto Galindo. This event is sure to provide an exhilarating evening of boxing.
